Crossfire in order: five books, one very tangled relationship

Eva and Gideon get five novels. The box set does not make six.

The short answer

Read Crossfire by Sylvia Day in this order: Bared to You, Reflected in You, Entwined with You, Captivated by You, then One with You. These five novels follow the same couple; the complete collection repackages them.

Five novels. Six entries on the publisher's series page. This is exactly the kind of small catalog mess that makes keeping a reading list more work than it ought to be. The extra entry is a collection, so you can put the calculator away.

Crossfire follows Eva Tramell and Gideon Cross through an intense relationship shaped by their pasts. The physical attraction arrives early. Trust has considerably more paperwork. If you want slow burn, be clear about which part you want to wait for: this is not a long wait for physical intimacy.

Start with Bared to You and keep going

The order above follows the publisher's numbered novels. Treat the five books as one extended relationship arc. Buying book three because its cover appeals to you is a perfectly good way to inherit two books' worth of arguments without knowing how they started.

An omnibus is useful if you want everything together. Before buying, check its contents against the five titles. A different cover, format or edition date does not create another chapter of Eva and Gideon's story. The count here refers to the main novels checked on 9 September 2026.

Keep the next volume beside the one you've finished. Add the series to your watchlist.

The reason to choose it is also the caveat

I would put this on your shortlist if your request is very specific: one central couple, contemporary luxury, a lot of emotional friction, and explicit romance. The continuing focus is the point. If you want a fresh pairing with every book, Beautiful makes a more useful comparison.

  • Intensity. Expect obsession and possessiveness in the romantic framing. A recommendation for this mood is not a claim that the relationship is a model to copy.
  • Past harm. Trauma matters to the story. Look for detailed content notes before buying if that subject changes what you want to read.
  • Commitment. Try the opening sample before paying for all five books. Liking the premise and liking the narrative voice are separate things.

Read the recommendation, then read the disagreement

A Reddit discussion of Crossfire includes both enthusiasm for the chemistry and a response from someone who stopped after the first book. That disagreement is useful. It points to taste, rather than proving that everybody loves the series.

When looking for your next read, describe what you want to keep. Five books about one couple is a better search request than 'something spicy'. Our relationship-dynamics guide helps separate that preference from heat level.

Questions before you start

How many Crossfire novels are there?
Five main novels. Penguin also lists a complete collection, which contains the same five books.
Can I read Crossfire out of order?
Start with Bared to You. The books continue Eva and Gideon's relationship, so later volumes assume earlier events.
Is Crossfire a slow-burn romance?
Not if you mean a long wait for physical intimacy. The ongoing tension is about trust and the couple's emotional history.
